Okay, next topic is… Davy! :) Best part of vacation was last night, meeting Davy. Here’s the review I posted in Monkeeland, don’t feel like typing it all out again…

Last night (September 1) I saw Davy at Flamboro, very groovy. I went with my mom and dad (since none of my friends really like the Monkees, and I don’t know if I could get in just myself), and on the back of the tickets it had said you have to be over 19 to get in. So, me being under 19, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to go and see Davy. It ends up there were a few other people younger than me there, and so I was fine. We got there at about 6:30 or so, and waited until 7:00 when they let us in, I had my Then and Now record for him to sign. We got inside, we were about 10 rows back or so, and we waited for it to start (it started at 8:00 and lasted til 10:00). I kept on seeing people coming on stage and thinking “Ooh… is that Davy?… Oh, no it’s not…” I was afraid he might walk right by me and I wouldn’t notice, since I haven’t seen any really recent pictures of him. But he came on stage, I knew it was him.

He started off with “A Little Bit Me” and then “Valleri”, I believe. Then he told some jokes and did “Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)” and “Papa Gene’s Blues”. I don’t remember the exact order, but he sang some more songs, told some more jokes. My parents who aren’t big Monkees fans seemed to enjoy it and they thought he was pretty funny. He did the “Brady Bunch Theme” and “Girl”, as well as quite a few other Monkees songs, one from “Oliver”, and a few I didn’t know (of course, I only really know Monkees songs). Two members of the band did a little “All in the Family” skit, it was really funny. He did his dance to “She Hangs Out” (which I personally always thought was the best song for doing the Davy Dance to ;)), which was great. Towards the end, he sang “Steppin’ Stone” and then “Daydream Believer” and walked off stage. Then he came back and sang “No Time” and “I’m A Believer”.

There was a line up to see him, so my mom and I went and waited. He didn’t come back until half an hour or so later, and then he started signing autographs and taking pictures. Then we had to wait another half hour or so, since we were kind of far back in the line. So I went up to meet him and said hello. He signed my record and a little advertisement thing he had at the desk for “Meet the Royals” and then I took a picture with him, shook hands, and left. I would’ve loved to stay longer, but I wouldn’t know what to say, I had school the next day, and there were quite a few people still waiting.

All in all, it was great. Davy and the band really looked like they were having fun and it was all really energetic. I would hope he comes here again, I would love to go. :) Once the pictures get developed, I’ll try to get them on here so you guys can see.

So, yup, I was happy. Then today was first day back to school. I walked up the Alison’s house and met Kristen half way to Alison’s. Then we walked to school, and about a block away, who do we see driving by but Michelle! So she hops out and we walk with her the rest of the way. Michelle said she called me last night and she had my markers she borrowed the last day of school all summer, and she put the markers in my mailbox, and we haven’t seen each other all summer. But I was really busy.
So I went inside they talked in to us in the auditorium… blah blah blah… respect… don’t interfere with others learning… blah blah blah… we know this already. Then I went with the homeroom teacher, my french teacher. We toured the school and went to the homeroom, she handed out a questionnaire about us… what is your age, what is your favourite subject, blah blah blah. Then I went to my next class, I walked with Dana from French since we are in the class. Same thing, this is what you need for class, fill out this questionnaire. Then I went to the next class, and found Dana there as well. Dana is pretty cool, I’d like to be better friends with her, we haven’t talked much lately though. Same thing in that class as well, then I went to the last class (Dana wasn’t there though) which was the same. I didn’t have any problems finding my classes, they are all pretty close to each other. So then we had lunch, pizza and pop. I sat with Michelle. Then Kristen and Alison came over and sat with us. Then we all walked home. Alison and Kristen live on one side of the road, and me and Michelle on the other, so I walked with Michelle. Michelle asked why I didn’t call her last night?, and I said it was because I was at the Davy thing. Oh well.
