I was watching Beatle Wives E! True Hollywood Story and my dad tells us we're leaving today. He doesn't want to wait another hour for it to finish, so I have to tape it. Though I did watch it Yesterday, so it's all good.
When we were a few kilometers away from the Canada/U.S. border, there was huge traffic. All the way to the border there were cars, moving a foot every few minutes. So the majority of the trip there was a few hours in Canada. Oh well. We did get there eventually though. :) It was pretty late I think. Oh yeah, and "there" is Cleveland. I think. Yeah. We went to sleep.

Woke up. I think I had breakfast. Probably Froot Loops. But yeah. We went to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame a little before 10:00, when it opens, so we walked around. I saw the big model guitar of George's Rocky guitar. We went inside and I saw the front of it, and a model guitar with a picture of John on it. Downstairs there was another George one that had his picture on it (because he was inducted this year… geesh, took them long enough).
We went all through the place, on a wall in the Teen Idols section it said something about the Monkees, I think when it debuted on TV, and something about the Beatles.
There was a section with John Lennon stuff and one with Beatles stuff. There were handwritten lyrics to "In My Life", "Beautiful Boy", and I think another one. John's report cards, his newspaper/comic thingy, his glasses from How I Won The War, his coat from Help!, his Sgt. Pepper outfit, and some other stuff. In the Beatles section there was a board game, bobble heads, other merchandise from the sixties, Ringo's Help! coat, George's guitar, and more.
We saw a movie, "It's Only Rock N Roll" I think it was called. At the beginning it had a quote, something like "Rock N Roll is the hamburger that ate the world" - Peter Tork. Ha ha ha.
Edit: Uh, actually, it was Peter York. XD
And there was quite a bit of Beatles stuff throughout the place, but I think that was all the Monkees stuff. Darn people. They should at least induct Mike. Geez.
There was another movie with little bits about all the inductees, it had The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. Since George was inducted this year, there was a little display case with stuff in it… an All Thing Must Pass album, handwritten lyrics to I Me Mine and For You Blue, and quite a few others.
It was pretty cool, much better than the last time we went (even though they did have the whole John Lennon exhibit *kicks self for the millionth time for not liking the Beatles then*) because I'm more interested in stuff. There was a lot more than the stuff I've said, but The Beatles and Monkees stuff were my favourites. :)
I guess at some point we went back to the hotel, or to another hotel, or something. And we went to sleep as well.

Woke up. Went to Cedar Point amusement park. My brother doesn't like ANY rides, so I went with my mom and my dad went with him to the arcades and shows and stuff. We were there all day, but only went on a few rides. I only went on one roller coaster, and it didn't go upside down or anything, bleh. There was one HUUUUUUGE roller coaster, you've gotta see it.

I think we drove to Chicago today. o_O We had pizza for supper. I think that's all we did. Oh, and there were a lot of stores that sold boxes. I thought that was rather funny. But that's just me. :)

We went to Navy Pier in Chicago. There was a free trolley ride, so we went on that. We saw a Rock Records store, but didn't stop because it was far from the other stops. We tried to find it later, but my brother was complaining and we'd end up getting lost. Ugh. We walked around the Navy Pier, but it started raining so we went inside. Then we went outside again, then we went to the hotel (an hour away o_O).
My dad and I went back to Navy Pier later, because it just so happened, a Beatles tribute band was performing there - Twist and Shout. They didn't look like the Beatles, but they sounded good. :) "Sounded"… is that right? Bleh, I don't know.

Today I think we went shopping. But that doesn't matter. At 4:00 or so, we went to Aurora, where we would be seeing Micky. Hee hee. So we walked around for two hours and then we went to the concert area place. The opening act was Empty Can Band, they were on from about 6:00 - 8:00. Towards the end of it, I was looking around at the crowd and I saw someone who looked just like "George" from Twist and Shout, and a second later, my dad pointed him out, so I guess it probably was him. Heh.
Anyways, I was suppose to say hi to Cassidy (MonkeesUtopia), so I went up to the stage and and said hi to her and Jules. I ended up staying in front of the stage with them for the concert. I'm glad I did, though our seats weren't too far back, there were TONS of people in between the seats and the stage, and hey, you can't get much better seats then the front! :)
They did a half hour (or thereabouts) sound check before Micky came on. I hardly remember what happened, but mainly he did the well known Monkees songs and told jokes in between songs.
I think this is probably the majority of the songs he did: (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone, A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You (he adjusted the microphone so it was a few feet off the ground, at Davy's level :P), Circle Sky, For Pete's Sake, Goin' Down, I'm A Believer, Last Train To Clarksville, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Randy Scouse Git, That Was Then This Is Now, The Girl I Knew Somewhere, and Since I Fell For You. Coco Dolenz, his sister, was also with him, she sang "Different Drum" and "Route 66".
Somewhere in the middle of the show, they brought a little kid up on the stage that had been separated from his parents (though they were quickly found). "There's our good deed for today!" Micky said.
Also during the concert, someone in the audience yelled out "MONKEES RULE THE WORLD!" Micky laughed and said "No, that was Planet of the Apes." :D
The concert ended (with "I'm A Believer", of course) and we were informed we could get merchandise beside the stage. I bought Micky's CD - Demoiselle. I had my Then And Now record with me that I wanted Micky to sign. Someone beside us also had a record, and they asked someone if Micky would be able to sign it. The person at the table said he wasn't feeling well, and probably wouldn't be coming out. He must not have been very well, he had taken two breaks during the show and didn't come back for an encore.
Nevertheless, I stuck around hoping he might come out later. After 10 minutes or so, Micky came out and everyone cheered. They said he had 6 minutes and then he'd have to leave. There was still a bit of people there, so my dad took my record and gave it to Micky. He had quite a few people with CDs and things to sign, but he got to mine pretty quickly. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get a picture with him, but it was really a great experience. :)
So then we went back to the hotel and slept. And I think that's all.

And today we went home. Lovely. :)
So now I'm home. Then we went to a nearby town for two days, but nothing really interesting happened there. I got a Harmony Care Bear from the Mall though, lol. Care Bears are my new obsession. I have to get up early tomorrow because it's on TV at 9:30 tomorrow, lol.
Hi Jenny! I'm glad you had such a lovely time at the concert! You remembered a couple things that I forgot to put in my review; thanks for that! I've never been to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame; it sounds great! Gonna go look at your pics now… I've got mine back, but haven't put them anywhere yet. =)
