So I was watching TV and happened to notice that the episode of Sabrina with Davy Jones was on. So I grabbed my last semi-blank VHS tape (with Vampirella at the beginning) and popped it in the VCR.
He's not really a major plot point, just a fun little thing thrown in the episode to make it funny.
Caroline Rhea's character has some weird disease thing that if she says a pun, it's taken literally. She says something about a monkey on her back and… there appears Davy Jones of The Monkees on her back! "No one explains what's going on to the apparition!"
So then Harvey, Sabrina's boyfriend, is talking about how his dad wants him to date other girls, and so they decide to see some other people, but just as friends. Soon Sabrina finds out Harvey has a date with this girl Jean. Sabrina goes home and complains to Salem, her cat. She says Jean is an awful name. Then Davy Jones appears and says "I think it's a rather nice name!" and starts singing and dancing to Daydream Believer. Laughed my ass off, I did.
So then Davy's singing "(I'll) Love You Forever" and then he does this weird thing with his head and says "these kind of things nevah 'appen to Petah Tork!"
At the end, Davy tries to teach them all the Monkee walk. "Oo's got their 'and on me bum?" he asks, then Caroline's like "me!" and then he says nothing. It seems like the writers just didn't know how to end the joke. Unless I missed something.
But yeah, they go off Monkee-walking-about. And that's it.
Lovely, huh?
Now I've seen just about all the Monkees cameos I'll be able to see. Well, maybe that other 7th Heaven one… they do play that on CTS, don't they? WHEN THEY SHOULD BE PLAYING CHARLES IN CHARGE —
*cough* Excuse me.
