I think most people on my forums are younger than me, 10 or so. Recent events at the board made me think about when I was that age and what I was doing on the internet.

It's insane, I look at these people's birth dates and it's 1995… '95?!?! No way! I mean, I was listening to the Spice Girls in 1995! They couldn't have been born then, when I started to like music (well, maybe not *good* music, but music is music).

Well, actually, I think the Spice Girls were more like 1997. But I always associate them with 1995 for some reason.

But anyway, the dates are right. I'm 16. 1995 was eleven years ago. Holy crap!

Right, well, now I've looked at my first Twist magazine, it was May 1999. I was in grade 4.

I must be getting old. My dates and years are all totally messed up.

I don't know if I was even on the internet in '95.

1997 was when we moved here, beginning of grade 3.

So 1997 - 1999 or thereabouts was when I hung out a Funtrivia Forums, and later Jimmy Vincent Forums (although I didn't stay there long), and I read Urban Legend Reference Pages all day.

Huh… now actually, I think I got to both Funtrivia and Snopes after seeing their addresses in Twist. Huh… so I don't know what I did before 1999.

But anyway, all dates aside, Funtrivia and Snopes were two places I was at a lot. Another was Marnie's Kingdom.

Ah, I loved the chat board. Now I never go to chat boards or message boards, besides my own.

I typed in "Marnie's Kingdom" in Google and found her guest book. I started searching through, hoping to find an entry I'd left to have a little view into my past. Here's one that may have been me:

Hello! Great site! I visit it as soon as I wake up and as soon as I come home. The only problem is, thers hardly ever n e 1 at the Playgorund but, hey, you can't fix that!

It sounds like it could have been me. I don't think I seriously checked it every day all the time! Wow, what a nerd I was! I know I was quite fond of using "ne1" instead of "anyone" back then. Sunshine was always my nickname. I think back then when I was asked "ASL?" I always answered "?/?/?" or "if i told u i'd have to kill u" or something stupid like that, so the location fits that.

So 2001 was when Marnie's was the place to be, for me at least.

No idea what that's about, but it sounds familiar. And once again, no location. And sunshine not capitalized. Huh… pretty strange girl I was.

I think once I actually met Marnie on the group board, though she was pretending to be an evil penguin?

I remember quite well that I was VERY annoying. People would be whispering to each other and I would start going:

I'd do that until they talked to me or told me to shut up.

There was one time I went on before school and got an error message saying I had been banned. I'm not sure exactly what it said, but I wasn't exactly sure if I was banned or it was an error.

But I went and emailed Marnie and cried and whined and said I wanted to be unbanned and that I'd be good.

I guess it worked, because I was able to go back on later.

However, I don't think I really stayed there much longer.

One time before I was banned I went on as an Anon and tried to see if people would treat me differently if they didn't know it was me.

I seem to also remember people being nasty to me on the message board. I think people accused me of being ten years old or something, which I probably was at the time. Actually, it would've been funnier if I was like 8 and they accused me of acting like I was 10. Bwhaha.

I also remember one time in the summer when everyone was out in the pool, but I'd stayed inside to hang out at Marnie's. Ha ha.

I remember people talking about Slipknot and Nine Inch Nails, I had no idea who they were.

Man. It's pretty sad. I wonder if anyone remembers me, annoying little sunshine? I don't remember anyone else there in particular, except for Marnie.

So ya know, even though I was 10, I thought I was all grown up and knew everything. I didn't think I was annoying. Or maybe I did, but just didn't care. So I can understand what's going on at my boards. They're still young.

But I know for certain in a couple of years I'm gonna look back at 16 year old me and say "what a nerd! what a loser! I was so stupid!". And that's just how it's always gonna be.
