Man, am I tired. I have to go to school soon for my guitar exam (bleh), but I want to write down what I can remember from last night.
Ha ha, I sound like I was drunk or something. But I wasn't. I swaer.
Parking was pretty awful. $30. Ugh. But we got in fairly quickly, I suppose.
We weren't as far back as I thought we were - there was one row up a little behind us. But I think we really had some of the worst spots. If we went straight down, we'd have pretty good seats. But we were up SO high… I don't even know what it felt like. Vertigo? I don't know what vertigo is, but I think it's something like that.
But anyway, we got this special little back thing and an elevator and a guide that took us to our seats. Ha ha, the losers down below didn't get that. Ha ha. Our seats were strange, it was like a bar, kind of. Not that I know what a bar is like, har har.
The opening band was pretty good, I suppose, but I couldn't hear them. I mean, I could hear them, but I couldn't understand a thing they were saying. I figured the sound would be better for Bon Jovi, because I think Beck's sound wasn't too good when we saw the Stones.
So the lights go down and the screen is sort of covering the stage, then the band comes out and Jon Bon Jovi is near the back of the place on this tiny little platform singing the first song. Turns out the sound didn't get better, because I had no idea what song it was.
I did recognize You Give Love A Bad Name (which they played second), and Have A Nice Day somewhere in the middle (if only because of the happy face dudes), It's My Life (again in the middle), and Livin' On A Prayer towards the end.
I don't like songs where you can't hear the words. I like words. So that's probably why this was kind of crappy.
I mean, I guess they put on a good show. But I won't get into my feelings on what's good and bad because a) I've done that several times before and b) I don't know what's good and bad.
There was one point where Jon Bon Jovi was on a little platform below us, we had to stand up to see, but it was pretty cool.
Oh yeah, he waved at me during Bad Medicine.
I was going to wave during this two other songs when he looked up, but then I was like "what if he doesn't wave back? Then I'll look like a loser" so I didn't wave. Because really, if you don't get a wave back, you just look stupid. And I'm not going to go jumping around and waving to get his attention, I'm just going to do a little wave. So chances are, he wouldn't even see. But if he did, that'd be cool.
I was a little disappointed that when he was singing "Livin' On A Prayer" that he didn't hold out his hand to anyone in the audience (you know, the part that goes "take my hand, we'll make it I swear…" etc). But not too disappointed I mean, since it's not like I was going to get to hold his hand.
Not that I care, I mean, pshaw.
Now, I predict that if The Who are going on tour, they'll come to Toronto on Canada Day. And they better come to Toronto. Or better yet, my house. Because Paul McCartney was here on Canadian Thanksgiving, Bon Jovi on Election Day. So The Who will follow along in the pattern of interrupting my celebrations. Which mostly consist of sitting at the computer.
But I think I realized last night that my three Monkee solo concerts were really good. For Davy we weren't too close, but I got to meet him after. For Peter, well, his was awesome, because it was a tiny little place and I got to meet him AND get a hug, tee hee. For Micky I was front row with some people who actually liked The Monkees, and although I didn't *really* get to meet him after, it was still pretty cool.
For Paul and the Stones and Bon Jovi it's just not been the same. You don't really have much of a chance of meeting them. And that makes me sad.
Anyway, I've gotta get ready for school and exams. Yay.
