People still have somewhat outdated attitudes about computers. A few things I've noticed is that we don't realize how capable they are in languages.
Spell checkers. I remember back in the old days typing and not knowing what those squiggly lines meant. Particularly, I remember it telling me that "i" is incorrect. I never knew "I" was supposed to always be capitalized. But that has nothing to do with this. Incorrectly using synonyms or different words with/out apostrophe can be caught by spell checkers. Sentences that don't make sense can be caught be spell checkers. Sure, not all of them can, but it is possible.
Translators. Some translators are good, some bad. People might believe that you can use an online translator to do your French homework, but the tenses will be incorrect. Not so. I use Altavista's Babel Fish (no cheating mind you!) and I've found it to be quite accurate. You just have to make sure it's not using a tense you haven't learned yet. That sets off an alarm for the teacher, they know you've used a translator. Not that I've ever done this, I just assume. ;)
On a completely unrelated note, The Superbowl. Football. I just can't get into. Can't play it. Need I tell you of the time I broke my finger by hitting the ball instead of catching it? No. I'd rather not. Watching it isn't very fun for me either. They stop every few seconds. How can people watch that?
I also don't understand people who watch just for the commercials. I was watching some of the commercials yesterday. Same old, same old. Mostly Global commercials. Checked every station, they were all Canadian commercials. I suppose the States may have better commercials, but I don't know.
I've heard that The Stones changed one of the lyrics in "Satisfaction" to be more family friendly. I didn't notice any changes, but I wasn't paying complete attention.
Aww, come on guys! Weren't you supposed to be the "bad boys" in the sixties?
Come on! The Doors didn't change their lyrics. They got banned from The Ed Sullivan Show but, so what?
I wonder if The Who were asked not to swear in "Who Are You" at Live 8. Even if they were, they did it anyways! Come on!
Which brings me to another point. The Who should play at the Superbowl. Because that would be cool. That's all I have to say about that.
Edit:
My apologies. Apparently "Satisfaction" was not changed, but "Start Me Up" and "Rough Justice" were. I don't know if The Stones changed them or it was just the censors that did. So if it was the censors, sorry Mick and friends. You can come over to my house and I'll apologize in person, if you would like. :)
