The other day I decided to watch Jerry Maguire. For a few reasons.
1) I've never seen it.
2) It was just starting.
3) It's one of those movies that people always reference, and I like watching those movies and increasing my knowledge of pop culture.
Number 2 is the most important reason, though.
It started out with the globe or something on the screen. I don't recall what it was exactly, since I wasn't paying attention. What I was paying attention to was the music.
"Huh, that sounds like Magic Bus!" I thought. "But no, it couldn't be, because I'm thinking of the Live At Leeds version."
Soon enough, the guitar comes in.
"That *is* Magic Bus!"
Wow. How cool is that? And the fact that it's the Live At Leeds version is even better!
Except, it was the quietest you have ever heard music in a movie. I had to strain to hear it. Even though I've heard it a billion times before. It's different, you know, when you hear a song on the radio or TV. Especially my favourite songs, because these aren't songs you hear that often. So it's just totally cool when you do hear them.
It turned out I missed what was going on because I was trying to listen to the song, so I stopped watching. I think it was about sports, so even if I was paying attention, I would've turned it off eventually.
On a somewhat related note, I was thinking about the Spice Girls' bus last night. That was a pretty cool bus. Painted like the Union Jack. And everyone had their own room. Emma even had a swing set. I think I tried to make a swing set in my room once, or maybe hanging from the stairs, but failed miserably (of course). I did have a nice collection of stuffed animals though, which was nice when I was playing Spice Girls with my friends.
Anyway. That bus. It's impossible! The inside of that bus was humongous. I mean, I'm looking at my room, it's about… eh, thee metres wide. Let's say that's about the size of one lane on a road. That bus would need like three metres of road to fit the entire inside of that bus!
Now, I know those British people are pretty strange, driving on the wrong side of the road and what not. But I didn't think their roads were that wide. Another thing I'll have to adjust to if I ever do move there.
On a completely unrelated note, today in Computer Engineering I finished this week (last week?)'s test, so I didn't really have anything to do. As did a few other people. The teacher has a bunch of broken computers and computer parts in her room, so she said we could help her with them.
I don't know much about computer hardware. I mean, once the computer's on, I can do a lot with a keyboard and mouse. But plugging in things, using a screw driver, taking things apart… I'm completely lost.
So I just sorta stood back and watched everyone else. Then the teacher says "would you hand me that CPU?"
"CPU… uhh… uhh… this… thing…?" I say. I was right! I was very proud. I was even able to pick it up. I felt so strong. :)
As I was walking down the hall I started thinking of That 70s Show when Eric and Red are in the muffler shop. "Eric, hand me that manifold." "Manifold… uh… hmm… ah… maniFOLD! Manifold!"
