Jerry Lee Lewis Concert

Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Avalon Ballroom, Niagara Falls, Ontario

Hee hee hee… went to Jerry Lee Lewis concert last night at the Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls with Jada. It's kinda sad though, because he had a show on Thursday and my GRANDMA called and said she went and saw him before… so I went to a show my GRANDMA went to. HA HA HA! Yeah, I don't think I saw anyone really our age. Ha ha.

They said no cameras were allowed, but they didn't even check us when we went it. Jada had a camera phone but didn't use it. Oh well. HA HA that reminds me of Sgt. Pepper's… ah, but this is not about that lovely movie.

Anyway, the ushers dudes and dudettes showed us to our seats and I'm thinking "Oh, these are the wrong seats, they're going to tell us to go up the balcony!" but NO! We were like RIGHT THERE! We could've ran on stage, it was just THAT FREAKING CLOSE! Now, I'm not a big Jerry fan or anything, but that got my totally excited. I have never been that close in my life! Well, I mean, Micky was close, but that didn't count, because those were free. SO THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!

So the lights go down and this dude goes to the piano and Jada's like "OH MY GOD IS THAT HIM?" and I'm like "no, it's a roadie!" Ha ha ha. Anyway, the band came on, and it was cool, 'cause I knew the songs. Well, I knew them because the Beatles covered them, but I knew them. They started with Rip It Up, then they did Honey Don't, which the drummer sang, which was funny, because Ringo sings it! Then they did two other songs I didn't know.

Then, THEN, we see these people on the other side of the stage kinda behind the curtains and people in our section start waving. And then JERRY LEE LEWIS WALKS OUT! WOOOOOOO! THE CROWD GOES WILD! Well, as much as they could, seeing as they all were so old. ;)

So he opens with Roll Over Beethoven, which again, I knew because of the Beatles. He also did Sweet Little Sixteen, and I almost, *almost*, was going to burst out laughing because, well, you know, his whole little cousin thing? HA HA. I'm sorry. But it was funny. Oh, and wouldn't you know it, I knew that one as well because of, guess who? Not the Guess Who, the Beatles!

What else did he do…? Umm, Georgia On My Mind, Slipin' and Slidin', I think, and a few others I didn't really know…

He closed with Great Balls of Fire and Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On. It was pretty cool, 'cause our section was the first one that was standing up. I mean, I didn't dance or anything, because, well, I just don't dance. Mike Nesmith didn't dance, so I do not dance. But I still clapped and tapped and whatnot. I remember at the Micky concert people would be clapping along to the song, and I always got way our of sync. But now that I'm a drummer it's a lot easier because I go along with the snare! Woo! I'm so smart!

Anyway, at the end of Whole Lotta Shakin' he kicks back his chair and it rolls over and everyone's like "WOOO!" and then he goes off.

Afterwards Jad went and asked some of the usher dudes if there's any way we could meet him and they're like "no, he's gone, he's gone, they usually do meet n greets out in the lobby, but he didn't want to…" or something. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Oh yeah, and go read Jada's review as well, and leave her a comment GOSH DARN IT! Even if you just want to tell her that she's a nerd. I'm sure she'll appreciate it. And hey, leave me a comment while you're at it! Geesh!
