Today was our first “real” vacation day. Got up early to go on the bus tour, they picked us up at the hotel at about 9:00. It was a really small bus, there were I think 13 total people including us, so I was a bit “eh” at first. Then we went and picked up some other people at another hotel and went into Boston.

We first stopped at this church where this dude, Robert Newman, put out the lanterns to signal that the British were coming and Paul Revere set off on his midnight ride. There was a graveyard, so me and mom went there, but my brother doesn’t like those things so he and dad went back to the bus. The tour guide had a Bruins hat, so dad was talking to him ’cause he’s a Bruins fan. All you see here is Red Sox stuff though, we saw ONE place with Bruins stuff and there wasn’t anything really interesting. You’d think because they come from BOSTON that there’d be more, but no. The guy said they aren’t that popular here. I think dad would be happier if he could’ve gotten some cool memorabilia. And we’ve got a really long drive tomorrow and that can’t be fun for him. At least when we get to Virginia Beach we can all relax.

So after that we got back on the bus and he pointed out cool buildings and stuff along the way. We went out near another church and a mirror window building and a bunch of other cool arcitechure-y stuff and took more pictures. We passed by the bar that inspired the show “Cheers”, which we didn’t go inside but it doesn’t look like the bar in the series. I saw a bio of the show and I think it was just the fact that you can see people’s feet when they are about to come in is the only thing that was the same.

Freaking hell, I hate this laptop. I apologize for any misplaced letters because this thing keeps jumping to different parts of the post.

Anyway, back to our story. We stopped for lunch at Quincy Market, named after me, of course. No, really, it’s named after John Quincy Adams… he was president of the United States… um… well, like fifth or sixth or something president. And his father was the second president and they were the only father-son pair that were president up until Dubya.

Anyway, back to our story. For lunch we ate at the replica of Cheers! How cool! It was actually pretty good. Well, maybe I’m just getting used to these weird chicken fingers that aren’t really chicken fingers, but chicken strips or something.

Then we went walking around because we still had an hour. We found a CD store and I got some CDs. Finally!

  • John Entwistle – Left for Live
  • Pete Townshend – Rough Mix
  • Pete Townshend – All The Best Cowboys… etc
  • The Doors – The Doors
  • Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin III

So pretty cool. All but the two Pete ones were used, but they were all nice condition. Well, I haven’t actually played them yet to see if they work, but you know. I can’t find The Doors first album for under like $26 at home, and I got it for like $11 here. True, that’s American price, but it still is a lot cheaper.

We also went to Harvard. So he said “now you can say you went to Harvard”. Ha ha ha. We saw MIT and some stuff like that. Hmm… I can’t remember where all we went, but it was a full day.

Okay, checking the brochure to remind myself… we saw Bunker Hill Monument, which we read about in history class, so that was nice. It was definitely a lot more interesting because I’ve heard of these things before, but if we came here like last year I wouldn’t have cared.

We stopped at this Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s house, where Washington also lived for awhile. All the houses here are so old and just, well, I don’t know the word for it. But they’re nice and big but quaint. You can just imagine the women with their big poofy dresses and hats walking around. I mean, if you got rid of the cars and concrete and roads and stuff.

At the end we went to this big ship place, the USS Constitution. It was a long wait to get on and do the security check and all, so we didn’t go on, but we went on this WWII boat and went in a museum about the boat.

Anyway, in a couple of hours… Ringo! So that’s all for now. :)
