I had a few things to talk about today, but none of them seem all that interesting anymore. But then I think, “if I’m not writing in my blog, I should be doing my math homework”. And so, blog it is.
We have to submit our quotes for the yearbook this week. And now is as good a time as any to start looking, non? Luckily, I’ve already got a handy page full of quotes I like.
Now, when picking yearbook quotes, there are a lot of things you need to consider. Of course, you can never go wrong with the ol’ “Go Rams Go!” or “I’ll treasure the memories”. But I mean, some people like to actually put something of meaning (and something they actually mean) beside their sad little face.
I’m most probably going to use some song lyrics as a quote. But the thing is, you have to be careful about whose song you pick. I am positive that there were people in the eighties who picked some Milli Vanili lyrics for their yearbook quote and then when they got their yearbook at the end of the year they became outcasts for liking such a lame band. I’m kinda lucky in that sense because my artists are already established and people will still know who they are in twenty years. But I mean, in grade eight, my quote was a Monkees quote, and they aren’t really my favourite band anymore.
However, now that I think about it, I couldn’t have picked anything other than a Monkees quote. Grade eight was the year of the Monkee, and — aside from the fact that I didn’t know any other bands — picking any other quote would be misrepresentative of that time in my life.
I’m most likely going to use a Who quote this year, preferably something from “Endless Wire”. I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with picking something from “Endless Wire”. It’s kind of like if I was actually able to get something autographed at one of their concerts, I’d want it to be my “Endless Wire” CD, because it’s just so indicative of now, I guess. And, besides whatever other meaning there is, it’s just plain awesome.
But you can’t go wrong with well-known songs either. Now, citing “The Who” in your quote, even if the people reading it don’t actually know the song, means that it’s automatically an awesome quote. Looking through past school yearbooks gives me no help, but I see that The Who are greatly underrepresented amidst the Rolling Stones and Clapton quotes. Actually, only one of each, and one of “Clapton is God”.
Anyway, here’s some lyrics from songs that I think would make good yearbook quotes.

There are tons of other sites with miscellaneous yearbook quotes that do it much better than I ever could — I was just trying to fill the niche of classic rock yearbook quotes. :)
