BACK FROM THE DEAD: Viewer demand isn't the only thing responsible for resuscitating CBS's once-canceled, now-returning "Jericho." You've got to know the restless spirits of fans who never got over the demise of Showtime's "Dead Like Me" three years ago had everything to do with MGM planning a "Dead Like Me" direct-to-DVD movie — which, it turns out, is due to begin production next week. Ellen Muth is back, along with Callum Blue, Jasmine Guy, Cynthia Stevenson and Britt McKillip — but not Mandy Patinkin. In fact, the storyline for this movie launches when his character is replaced as the leader of the reapers (those who bring the souls of deceased folks to the other side) by a slick business type who doesn't care about helping the dead.

So. I guess it was to be expected. I mean, he's got a new hit TV show, he doesn't need these guys anymore. But of course, it won't be the same.

I'm not going to get my hopes up, because as George has taught me, "interest begets expectation, and expectation begets disappointment", so, I'm going to expect it will be crappy. I don't know, has this ever happened before? I'm sure it has, but I can't think of any specific occasions. Well, I mean, TV shows into movies, of course. "Josie and the Pussycats" and "Scooby Doo", those were pretty lame. But, again, they were kid's shows, and kid's shows are lame. And cartoons.

But what about live-action, recent TV shows? I can only assume they "ruined" the show for those who saw it. But like I said, you never know.

Another show returning is "Big Brother", which is one of the more shunned reality shows. Me, I am not a reality show fan. "Survivor" jumped the shark quite early for me, I never really got into "Amazing Race". There were a few shows, like "Murder In Small Town X" that were only on for a little while, but that I quite liked. The first season of "The Mole" was good. Celeb-reality, naah. Except the Scott Baio one that's supposedly happening soon, if I can get it, I'll see it. But that's a special case. A really special case, because love reality shows are also out with me. Well, I have watched a bit of the "Kept" re-runs, but only because there are cool people on it.

"Big Brother" is the only one I've really continued to watch. I watched occasionally during the first season, but didn't really get into it until the second, which was one of the best seasons, mainly because of Will, who also made last season a good season. James was also cool. But I don't get the whole Janelle and Kaysar-mania. I mean, I didn't hate them, but I didn't see what there was to really like about them.

Anyway, this season, season eight, starts tonight. I checked out the spoiler sites last night to see what was happening this season. And so, spoilers start here, I guess.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying about this season. One complaint is that the "twist", bringing in people's enemies, is not really a twist anymore, because we've had the "X factor" season where they brought in people's ex-boyfriend/girlfriends, the "DNA season" with the long-lost brother and sister and twins, the season where everyone was playing with another person in the house, and last season where everyone was a previous contestant. If I was going into the "Big Brother" house, I'd be more surprised if I didn't know someone there.

Then there's the fact that all but three of the contestant are in their twenties. There's the "old guy" who is only 44, then a mom who's in her late 30s, and one guy who is exactly 30. Other than that, everyone else is 20-something. 20-something people are lame and are all about the showmances and being boring. Very rarely will you get a 20-something who is actually going to play the game and backstab people and be sneaky and entertaining. So, people are complaining that they need more diversity. We get it, sex sells. But enough already!
