The other day, I was watching TV, as I rarely do, and noticed a commercial that used the song "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. Seriously? Bwhaha. I thought it was rather amusing. I have no idea what the commercial was for if it wasn't for condoms or hats though, so they didn't really achieve anything with that choice of song.

There's a commercial for CTV or a certain Canadian television station that is quite pretty, where it pans across the stars of the primetime TV shows, doing various things in front of a white screen with nice little special effects. The song, I have no idea what it's called, but I'm going to say it's "The Rest Is Still Unwritten". It was a cute little spot. But that's all.

When I recently saw this other commercial using the same song, it was kind of disgusting. Well, not disgusting. But to have two commercials in rotation at the same time with the same song is kind of stupid. When I hear that song, I think CTV, not hair.

While I recognize that there are so many songs and so many commercials and that there's no way a song will never be used in a commercial twice, it still comes off as rather lame. Sure, the music publisher or whoever owns the song doesn't care about it as long as they're making money, but really, it just bugs me.
