So, I've already made a post about MySpace today. But one thing in particular that is associated with MySpace are MySpace pictures, and I figure I'll elaborate on this a bit.

Now, there are various amusing articles about what a certain style of MySpace picture means, so I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to tell you how to take a MySpace picture. I've taken a few in my day, under my emo guise. You feel like an idiot at first, but after awhile, it becomes quite fun.

No low angles

The one piece of advice I have to offer for people taking MySpace pictures, or really, any self-portrait photos, is not to take the picture from below. I've never figured out how some people do it, but every time I try to take a picture from below, I get two chins. And the whole point of MySpace photos is to make yourself look more attractive than you really are! Abundance of chins does not do that.

No flash

I personally am not a fan of using flash. For people with glasses, it's especially bad, because you need to make sure you don't get a reflection in your glasses. It's easier to just turn the flash off than to try to position the camera correctly for every shot.

Another thing about flash is that if you have nice natural light coming through the curtains or whatever, that ruins it. You also get a shadow behind you that looks stupid.

Hair

If you have long hair, you want to pay attention to that. I often have little hairs sticking out here and there, and while it's not really noticeable, it's annoying. They can generally be Photoshopped out, but sometimes it's time consuming and sometimes it can be difficult.

Smile!

I never used to smile showing my teeth. Maybe for a long time because I had braces, but after that, I had no excuse, right? And well, I still don't smile with my teeth. But I decided to try it just once while taking MySpace pictures, and it actually looked pretty good. Better to try it in private, when you can delete the stupid looking picture, rather than to have it go in the yearbook or on your driver's license, non? My mom told me once that for her school pictures, the photographer would have students say "yes", because it gives you a nice looking smile while showing your teeth, and it actually did work.

And if you look like you have a fake smile, then maybe you should consider forgetting the smile and just becoming an emo.
