Boy oh boy, what is it with me being so charitable through my blog lately? Blogathon, and now this? Blog Action Day certainly won't be as much work (or as much fun, or as much sleep-depriving) as Blogathon, but hey, whatever I can do to help.
Actually, I've done quite a few other computer-related things to help other people. Now, I don't know how much it all actually helps, but I'll take my chances. :)
- Blogathon: Raise money for a charity of your choice and don't sleep for 24 hours. Much more fun than it actually sounds.
- BOINC: Change your screensaver and help find aliens. Or cure cancer, whatever.
- Distributed Proofreaders: Preserve literature, that is the mission! Eh, I don't think I accomplished a very good mangled "Hamlet" reference, but it's — holy shit, 2:30? When did that happen?!
- Wikipedia (and any other wiki): I don't think I need to give an explanation for this one. If you don't know what it is, then you don't deserve a banana.
But personally, I think the best thing you could do to help other people from your computer is to make a website with instructions on how to build your own Flux capacitor.
August 17, why does this day look familiar? Does that ever happen to you? Certain dates just seem important? Every once in awhile I'll see a month and a day put together and it just looks right. August 17 is one. But, I see no birthdays or death days that are significant to me on Wikipedia. I search Google Desktop and find that (some of) Woodstock took place today.
And wouldn't you know it, it's only about half an hour (according to some) until The Who takes the stage. :)

I have also registered my blog. In fact, I’m planning a month-long campaign on appreciating our environment, which will conclude on 15 Oct. We shall see how it goes..
