My dad's been involved with an event for the United Way for awhile, and tonight my family and I went to get some stuff organized at the United Way building.
We all basically sat around a table, passed around bags, and dropped coupons into it. At one point my brother says to me, "sooo, how's life?". I turned and gave him a… I want to call it a Red Forman look. Like, "don't be a smartass". You know what I mean, right? Yeah.
And then, I heard the laugh track in my head.
Because that's the way it would go if my life was a sitcom!
Okay, so it obviously isn't, but that doesn't mean I can't attempt to make my life into a sitcom!
There's a certain thing that I shan't discuss, in case I decide to actually go through with it, but basically it's something I need to do that I don't want to do. Sooo, as I sat there, dropping coupon after coupon into bag after bag, I had a great idea to avoid doing it! It was so Lucy of me.
Now obviously, if my life were a sitcom, this would not work. Hilarity would ensure as my plan backfires, I would learn a lesson (but forget it by next week, when I try a new plan), and it would all be okay in the end.
But see, my life isn't a sitcom, so I can go through with these crazy schemes and they actually might work, with no lessons learned or anything! Right?
