When will the good people have their say?
I've watched "Big Brother" regularly since about partway through the first season, and this season was no exception. I pick my favourite player by going to the official website before the show begins and examining their music tastes. If you watch the show, you'd probably see that Dick has the best taste.
Umm, let me rephrase that. "Evel" has good (ish) taste in music, so he is therefore my favourite player. Oh god… moving on. Anyway, by extension, Daniele is also another player I like, since she is his daughter and they are playing together, for the most part.
It seems you either love or hate the Donatos. I would've loved them even if Dick's profile hadn't listed The Rolling Stones and Guns N' Roses, since they've been interesting players and have actually played the game. If people didn't lie and cheat and back stab and try, the show would not be at all exciting to watch. Imagine a house full of Jamekas and Ambers. Do you know how boring that would be?
People like Jameka and Amber want a "good person" to win. And yes, I do agree that Dick has crossed the line often. I think Howie did as well two seasons ago, but because he looks doofy and not nearly as "menacing" as Dick (what with that rock music that always seems to play when he's on screen!), people didn't care as much, and I don't think they played it up as much on the show, because it just wasn't his character.
So a "good person". What is that? From what I've heard, a good person can be summed up as someone who doesn't play the game.
I can understand voting for someone who needs the money. But really, all the players are getting paid while they're in the house and they make money from all the appearances afterwards. And also, if they really needed the money, they would have been working this past summer!
Some people ask "how can you like a player who says and does all these awful things? He hates women and gays and blacks and Jens!". Obviously the Donato fans aren't fans because of this aspect of his personality. But honestly, a lot of people hate women and gays and blacks and Jens, the only difference is Dick is being watched 24/7 and other sexists, racists, etc aren't. Of course it's wrong, we're not condoning his behaviour. But you can still enjoy watching someone banging on pots and pans in the bedroom when everyone else is sleeping, even if that person is a Dick.
Dick's given us some of the funniest moments this season. While mocking Jen he says, "oh, you're playing chess? Well look at my chest!", which I don't know how well it translates if you haven't actually seen it, but it was quite funny. As mentioned above, the pots and pans incident was amusing. Just recently America's Player, Eric, had been told to imitate Dick, which was actually quite hilarious.
My absolute favourite moment though needs a bit of background information to understand. As said, Dick's theme music is a heavy rock riff. Another house guest is Jameka, whose theme music is… a church organ. She and Amber are the stereotypical religious fanatics. And Dick is, well, the devil. Dick and Jameka have gotten into religious debates a few times, and I'm fairly certain Jameka has actually called him the devil several times. Jameka and Amber are so convinced that God has preordained that they will be in the final two together and a good person will win "Big Brother". God has spoken to them and they and received visions of themselves winning competitions.
A few weeks ago there was an important Power of Veto competition involving an over-sized croquet set. Dick and Daniele were nominated for eviction and it was all up to Dick to save them. Luckily, he managed to beat Dustin by one point and won the Power of Veto, after which he screamed, "thank you, Jesus!".
