Big business and gossip nonsenses

I've watched "Gene Simmons' Family Jewels" a few times in the past and found it rather entertaining, so when I heard that Gene Simmons was going to be on "The Celebrity Apprentice", I knew I'd have my Thursday nights booked.

I wasn't disappointed. For the first episode, the teams were split into men and women (which I personally think puts the women at a huge disadvantage — because when have you ever seen a group of women agree!?) and their task was to sell hot dogs on the streets of New Yawk City. The guys are kind of sitting around going "duuuuur…" when you suddenly see Gene whip out his cell phone and say "yeah, Bob? Can you buy a hot dog from me for $10,000 for charity? Yeah? Great, thanks". It was a great moment in both comedy and business. Gene, as much as people love to hate him, is a really smart guy.

Yesterday, I didn't quite feel like getting up after watching "Jeopardy!", so I found myself watching whatever was on next, which happened to be "Gossip Girl". I've occasionally heard people talking about this show at school, and as much as I knew it was just a silly teen show, I kept watching, if only for the fact that "Gossip Girl" has a website, which is totally cool. She's also an exceptional website designer, but then again, from what I've seen in TV and movies, all young girls are, aren't they? I mean, just take any random girl's MySpace page and you will see the sheer brilliance and talent we all possess.

And wouldn't you know it, today people in business class we talking about this very episode! Apparently it was a "really good" episode. I didn't really want to make a judgment on the series, but if that's true, I figure the show is pretty disappointing overall.

Today we had a lockdown drill while I was in yearbook class. Somehow, I managed to be absent for both of the previous ones, so this was my first. The whole class just kind of stood there for a few minutes going "duuuh… are we… gonna… do anything?" and eventually the teacher herds us all into the adjoining room. Whilst in the other room, the teacher mentions that during one of the lockdown meetings he said that he had a room-within-a-room that leads outside, and during a lockdown is he allowed to leave? They told him no, that they're supposed to stay inside until the lockdown is over, to which he basically thought "pffft, yeah, riiight".

After the drill, we were working on some page layouts, and my partner and I were discussing getting a picture of all the grade 12 students, and should we leave the background in, or cut it out? "Well," I reasoned, "it's hard to get in between people's legs and around their heads and try to cut the background out". And I knew when I was saying it, I thought "Jenny, you're an idiot, you should've thought that out a little more and rephrased it", so it was no surprise when another student commented, "what? it's not hard to get between people's legs!".

By the way, I love the phrase "ROFL waffle".
