I first heard about Earth Hour a few days ago. I was on my local newspaper’s website for a reason I can’t recall and saw a poll about it — “will you be participating in Earth Hour?” — along with a link to a story about it.
My first thoughts? “Turn off the computer for an hour? Fuck that, I have more important things to do!”
But the more I’ve heard about it, the more I’ve warmed up to the idea. And the more I’ve heard it about it, the more people are saying just to turn off your lights. But still, I would be willing to turn off my computer in the name of the environment. I could just go watch TV instead… wait, no, that kind of defeats the purpose… read a book?… but it’s night, and there are no lights… hmm… play drums, maybe?… but then, I need music for that…
What the hell do normal people do, anyway?
