Yet another song that I never really understood, and yet is quite poignant and expresses a message with which I wholeheartedly agree (well, at least the title, I mean).

Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend" comes on the radio and I go "pfft, "who works on the weekend?".

"No, everybody's waiting for the weekend," my mom says.

Thinking she's just misheard the lyrics, I again say "pfft". But then I realize that they are working to get to the weekend, not working during the weekend. I understood the "for" to mean "for" as in "we're going home for the holidays" rather than "I'm saving up for a cassette player". That song make much more sense now.

And like I said, the title is rather sensical. Hey, if nonsensical is a word, so should be sensical.

Everybody just gets through the week. It's only Monday… ugggh. It's only Tuesday… eh. Hey, it's Wednesday, the week's half over! Hey, it's Thursday, tomorrow's Friday! Hey, it's Friday, I just have to get through today! Yeaaaah, S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y… NIGHT! Sunday… well, at least it's something! It's only Monday… ugggh…

And my view is why should people think like this? We're just getting through another day, working so that we can go home for the weekend. And then the weekend goes by, and we start over again. Why should we waste our time thinking like that? Like Monday-Friday doesn't matter? This is why I want to do something I enjoy for those other five (or maybe six, depending on how many days are in your week) days. I couldn't stand just working for the weekend — that's a terrible excuse for an existence.
