It would be kind of weird to meet someone famous. I mean really meet them, like randomly. Not at a concert or a premiere or whatever, because in that context, you are a fan, it's a fact. But if you saw them in a restaurant, what do you do? Do you approach them? Ask for an autograph? Just say "hi"? Or discreetly snap photographs with your camera phone?

There are some people, and I get the impression this is most people, who know exactly what they'd want to say. Whether they actually do or not in the heat of the moment is besides the point, because most will just melt in a puddle on the floor and giggle and kick themselves later for not remembering what to say.

But I have no idea, if I met anyone at all, what I would say. I actually did think recently of something I could ask Michael Nesmith. Besides like "hey, come up to Canada and do a concert. Heck, go anywhere in the world and do a concert, and I'll be there". But I could ask him what a "roogulator" or "rugulator" or whatever that word is. I've heard a few supposed theories about it, but none that I could confirm (read: Wikipedia). But it's not like a totally pressing matter that it would be the first thing I would think about. The first thing I would think about is "oh god, what should I do?"

And I mean, coming up to them in a restaurant or something would be awkward. I mean, it's your only chance, but I mean, celebrities are people too. You don't want to bother them, but you really want that picture! I don't want to bother them, you know?

But then I think, well, if I was a famous celebrity, I would love people coming up to me and asking me stuff, asking me what a "roogulator" is. I'd love to tell them exactly what it was! I'd love to explain that the meaning of the frying pans in the sky when the sun is directly overhead and its metaphorical nature.

But of course, I'm not a celebrity. And if I was a crazy big celebrity, I'm sure I'd feel differently. And sure, some days, I might be happy to talk with my numerous fans for hours, but on other days, sure, I'd probably wish they'd just leave me alone.

But I guess there's always the chance you might catch them on a friendly day, so why not ask, right?
