Getting back into the “school groove” wasn’t as hard as I thought it’d be. Sure, getting up at 7:00 again was no fun, but otherwise, things went smoothly.
It was nice having a Monday without a two-hour computer science lecture. Those were the only lectures I ever felt like falling asleep in — and I’m a computer science major!
Looking forward to computers and math a bit more this semester, since it seems like we actually might do some useful stuff. Our math teacher asked us what kinds of sorting algorithms we’d learned about, and everyone kind of gave him a blank stare. I mean, *I* know (of) bubble sort and bucket sort and a bunch of other ones, but not from this class.
I am really really glad I took my grade 12 computer science class online. That taught me more about computers than I learned in my first semester at university. It introduced me to a lot of stuff like recursion and objects and whatnot that I doubt I would have learned taking the class in school, or at summer school, or anywhere else. That was probably the most useful class I took in high school, and it wasn’t even at my high school.
But anyway, enough of this sittin’ here, reminiscin’.
It sounds like what we’re going to do in math is go over the different types of sorting and searching algorithms and determine which is the most efficient — which is what I was expecting to learn going to university!
Sadly, I no longer get to sleep in on Wednesdays, at least not for as long as I like, now that I actually have a lecture before 12:00. And so, it is time for me to part.
